On the 7th day of Christmas...

The 7th day of QR codes will be focused on QR code trends and statistics from 2012. It's pretty apparent how the use of QR codes has sky rocketed in the 2012 year just by walking around outside. But the real question is by how much? Lets find out...

Just one of the many QR code scanning apps 'Scan' is "25 million downloads strong and is growing at an insatiable pace" according to scans founder Garrett Gee.

ScanLife's Q2 2012 Barcode Report
Here are some statistics from ScanLife's most recent global barcode scanning report:
-ScanLife saw over 16M scans in Q2, and the highest scan month ever in June 2012
-Over 4M first time scanners in Q2 of 2012
-Largest single QR code campaign saw over 2 million scans

With a single glance to ScanLife's chart on the right QR codes have been on the rise  for some time now when comparing QR code scans in Q1 of 2009 to Q2 of 2012.

From ScanLife's trend infographic
In our last post "Who's scanning QR codes" we learned that the most popular place to scan QR codes is at home. Therefore the most popular products scanned during the second quarter of 2012 at ScanLife were mainly products that could be purchased and brought home. The beverage Coke was one of products scanned the most during the quarter while other products that were close behind were video games, snack food, and books.
